Since 2015, the Gettex platform has embodied a modern alternative to traditional floor trading. The advantages are its availability at any time and the fact that it is free of charge: interested parties can place orders on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. - and for the first time in Germany without the usual stock exchange fees and brokerage commissions for floor trading.
In order to be able to offer this service with the latest technology, the customer wanted to upgrade its content management system to the current version and modernise the layout.
The core of this challenge was to migrate the existing data - including several thousand news articles including links to stock data - to a new CMS of the current TYPO3 version 10. The new CMS is provided on the customer system using Docker container virtualisation. The entire CI/CD process is ensured via corresponding concourse CI pipelines, so that no manual steps are required, from code changes to testing and rollout in the corresponding environment.
All relevant TYPO3 extensions were recreated to ensure compatibility with TYPO3 10. In addition, a unique look and feel was developed for the content elements, which optimally fulfils the special requirements of the electronic stock exchange: namely to provide an overview of shares, funds and certificates on the homepage with immediate visibility of the current prices.
On gettex.de, prospective investors can now find the latest share prices with improved performance in a fresh, clear layout. With just a few clicks, they can display share prices in an overview and detailed view, find securities via the integrated "ivestor Smart Search" and trade directly with the issuer via various co-operating broker services.
Our customer benefits from the latest technologies: the site is now based on a TYPO3 LTS version with corresponding security patches and bugfix support until 10/2023 as well as modern PHP 7.4. This not only ensures long-term support and a reliable connection to the expertise of the open source community, but also significantly improves the performance of the website, which in turn has a positive effect on trading turnover. The streamlining of the code base, which simplifies further developments and thus reduces future costs, is another plus for the Bavarian Stock Exchange that the modernisation of the site brings.
